  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon/ 5 mL sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon/2.5 mL coarse ground black pepper
  • for topping:
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue or feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons/30 mL mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon/1.25 mL onion powder
  • 1 large head of garlic
  • olive oil
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 42 minutes
  • Total Time: 62 minutes
  • Yield: makes 6 burgers

Chop the top off of the head of garlic and brush exposed top portion with olive oil. Wrap securely, but to too tightly, in aluminum foil. Using a knife, make 2 small slits int foil to make sure steam escapes during cooking process. Garlic can either be baked in a 350 degree oven or placed on a medium-high grill for 30 minutes. Remove garlic from heat let rest for 10 minutes and carefully remove from foil.

Garlic cloves should be a tender and caramelized. Set aside.

Combine ground beef with minced garlic.  Form into 6 equal sized patties and season with sea salt and black pepper.  Place onto grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side (over medium-high heat), or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.  Once cooked, remove from heat and loosely tent with aluminum foil.

Meanwhile, mix together crumbled cheese with mayonnaise, cider vinegar, and onion powder. Gently remove roasted cloves of garlic from head.  Either keep whole or roughly chop and add to cheese mixture.

To assemble, simply place cooked patties onto bun and top with garlic cheese topping. You can also add lettuce and tomato to burger.
