Every year products get recalled and most of the owners never hear a word because the company responsible has no way of telling them. This list of recalled grills, smokers, and other outdoor cooking equipment is here to get the word out so people with unsafe products can get their products repaired or replaced. These recall notices are arranged starting with the most recent.
1. Char-Broil Vertical Gas Smoker Model# 07701413
This recall affects 18,450 Char-Broil Vertical Gas Smokers sold by Walmart? and other retail stores between March 2008 and June 2010 manufactured by Ningbo Spring Communications of China under the Chat-Broil brand name. When placed on the low setting the regulator does not allow sufficient for the smoker's burner to remain lit. This can lead to a build up of unburned gas inside the smoker. If that gas reignites it can cause a fire or explosion. Char-Broil has received fire reports of people being hit by the smoker's door when the gas reignited. Owners of this smoker should discontinued use and contact Char-Broil at (866) 671-7988 for a replacement regulator and instructions on how to install it.
2. Kuuma IR Stow and Go Portable Grill
The 4,600 units of the Kuuma IR Stow and Go Grill sold through West Marine stores between January 2009 and August 2009 are recalled to address problems with the connection of the disposable propane tank. The tank may not connect correctly leading to a gas leak that can cause fires from the propane tank. Contact the importer, Eastwind Industries at (866) 995-8862 to receive a new instruction manual and a fuel line cleaning tool.
3. Master Forge 5-Burner L3218
The Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Sagittarius Sporting Goods of China have announced a safety recall on the Master Forge 5-Burner Gas Grill, model #L3218 sold by Lowes Home Improvement between September 2009 and November 2009. The rubber gas line may come in contact with the Grill's firebox causing it to melt. This can lead to a fire. Two cases have been reported though no property damage or injuries have been caused so far.
If you own this grill you are advised to discontinued use immediately and contact Sagittarius Sporting Goods at (800) 444-6742 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday for a free repair kit. This grill is imported by LG Sourcing, Inc. of North Wilkesboro, N.C. 10,000 units are affected by this recall.
4. Cooks Outdoor BBQ Grill Model #780-2176
This is a complete recall of 5,600 Cook's Outdoor BBQ Grills sold through JC Penny Stores between February 2009 and September 2009. The drip pan of this grill does not allow for adequate drainage that can lead to uncontrollable grease fires. Eleven instances have been reported. Since this is a complete recall you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price. To receive this refund you must remove the gas hose and regulator and return it to any JC Penny's customer service desk. For additional information call (888) 333-6063.
5. Perfect Flame SLG Series Grills
This is one of the largest gas grill recalls in history affecting 663,000 Perfect Flame Gas Grills made by Jiangxin Innovations in China for Lowes Stores in the United States and Canada and sold between September 2005 and May 2009. The inferior burners in this grill can easily and quickly deteriorate causing uneven flames. In some models the lid, made with an aluminum/magnesium alloy can catch fire. Forty fires have been reported as well as several injuries. If you own this grill call (888) 840-9590 for replacement burners and possibly a replacement hood. You will be expected to make the repairs yourself.
6. Fiesta Blue Ember Gas Grills
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Health Canada, and Fiesta Gas Grills have announce a voluntary recall of 113,000 Fiesta Blue Ember Gas Grills models FG50045, FG50057, and FG50069 sold in the United States and Canada between November 2006 and May 2008. The problem relates to a potential fire hazard caused by the gas hose coming too close to the firebox. If you own this grill you are asked to discontinued usage until you have repaired the grill. Repairing the grill includes inspecting the gas hose and regulator to determine if there is damage and a replacement of the grills grease tray. DO NOT use this grill until these repairs have been made.
Please take this recall serious. 161 fires have been reported related to this defect and 9 injuries, 2 serious. The longer you wait to resolve this problem the more likely you are to have a serious accident.
The Blue Ember Gas Grill was subject to a previous recall in October of 2008. Blue Ember Gas grills are manufactured by Unisplendor Corp., and Keesung Corp., of China and imported by Fiesta Gas Grills of Dickson, Tennessee.
7. Perfect Flame Double Lid 4-Burner Gas Grill Model #GAC3615
This is a complete recall of 24,000? Perfect Flame GAC3615 made by Jiangxin Innovations (AKA Lucas Innovations, AKA BBQTek) and sold by Lowe's Home Improvement Stores between October 2007 and July 2008. Due to a concentration of magnesium used in the body of this grill the metal of the grill can catch fire and melt. There have been 175 reports of fires and 25 reports of grills melting. Since this is a complete recall you need to contact Lucas Innovations at (877) 385-8226 for information on a complete refund. It is vital that you do not use this grill.

This recall includes about 600 Char-Broil gas grills sold at Big Lots stores between January 2007 and March 2007. The heat diffuser for this grill is the wrong size and could cause the grill to overheat causing damage to the grill and could burn the operator. To rectify this problem, call Char-Broil at (866) 671-7988 for a free replacement heat diffuser.
12. Weber Genesis 320 Series Gas Grills
Weber is issuing a recall on all 2007 model Weber Genesis 320 Series gas grills. This includes any 2007 model Genesis gas grill with a side burner. The recall is to replace the fuel line to the side burner that may crack during shipping. Weber will get you a new hose and send someone out to put it on for you.
