The top 10 gas grills between $250 and $500 on the market. If you are looking to purchase a new grill for between $250 and $500 (based on typical selling price) then these are the one you should be looking at. In this price range look for a basic grill that can cook and last around 5 years. Updated for 2011. Onward Manufacturing Company If you are serious about grilling and want a grill that delivers both high, even heat and gives you a lot of control then this is a great grill for you. It might not look modern but Broil King has been making great grills for years. This model will give you plenty of space at 350 square inches or primary cooking area and a total of 520 square inches. The engineering of this grill is excellent, too bad the design is so bland. 
Weber-Stephen Products Co. This is a basic 3-burner gas grill for around $350. While there are many similar grills, or even grills with more extras this is the cheapest grill you can get made by Weber. This means a good design, with great support, and pretty good longevity for a moderate price. If quality is a serious issue with you, but you can't afford to spend more then this is a grill you should take a serious look at (if you can find one). Yes, there have been some cutbacks in materials to deliver this grill for the price, but the internal components are still good quality and designed to last longer than other, fancier grills. 
Onward Manufacturing CompanySitting next to this grill on the showroom floor of your local Lowes is a comparably sized and featured gas grill for about half the price. The question is, which one is the better value. At just over $250 is grill is, well, to be honest, something of a steal. Yes, the grill standing next to appears to be pretty similar and at half the price I know that a lot of people are going to skip this one and buy that one. That is a shame. This grill will last at least twice as long and will do a much better job of grilling with more even heating and greater temperature control. 
Napoleon Grills The Ultra Chef line from Napoleon is their entry level grills. Available in a number of configurations and mountings, this version, the U405 is their basic model. This is a no frills grill that has excellent heat output and cooking characteristics. The porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates hold heat and give you great contact with food for searing and high temperature cooking. With the 3-burner design and highly adjustable heat output this grill can do all your basic grilling tasks with ease. Since this grill is made by Napoleon (in Canada) it has a lot to back it up. 
The Holland Grill For the first time in many years you can buy a Holland grill for a price of $500USD. The Maverick is a limited edition version of the popular Holland Grill at a special, low price. Like all Holland Grills, the Maverick has a single cast iron burner under a metal deflector plate that separates the fire from the cooking chamber. Critics will say that this is just a large metal oven, but fans of this grill (which there are many) will say that this is one of the most versatile gas grills on the market. 
mindengrill.com This compact three burner gas grill was designed to ship directly to consumers limiting the size and weight of the unit to something most shipping companies would transport. Even with these limits this 3-burner gas grill produces high, even heat and works very well as a basic grill for around $400. With additional features (purchasable anytime) you can give this grill a side burner, stainless steel cooking grates, a full sized griddle and much more. 
Weber-Stephen Products Company If you want a smaller, dependable grill then this is a good one. If you need more cooking space then you probably need a different grill. With two burners you don't get a lot of versatility when it comes to indirect grilling and the 350 square inches of primary grilling space make it one of the smaller full sized grills. Since this grill also has no extras you will get a grill and nothing more, though a rotisserie kit is available. While limited in size and function this grill is perfect for a small space and the person who really just needs to be able to grill up some chops or chicken pieces.

And plenty of power with its 50,000 BTU main burner output. 
Stok GrillsRecently a major grill maker told me that the future was in accessories. The Stok Quattro may just be the perfect design for this. With removable cooking grate sections you can convert to use a griddle, vegetable basket or pizza stone without turning off the grill or even stopping cooking. The unique design of this grill gives you a tremendous amount of versatility in a complete unit. The best part is that all these extras come standard so the $400USD price tag gets you everything. Hopefully Home Depot, the exclusive dealer, will have replacement parts and maybe even more toys to play with. 
Char-Griller Char-Griller has been making low priced charcoal grills and smokers for a few years and has recently started making gas grills. This gas grill is built on the modified body of the smallest of their charcoal grills, basically replacing the coal grate with three burners. In addition they have put on a 12,000 BTU side burner. This means a heavy thermal painted steel grill body and porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates on a gas grill. Surprising this actually works quite well for a low priced (typically under $200) gas grill.   |
